Room 17’s 6th Grade News

This Weeks News Week of:    1/30/17 - 2/3/17
  • Wednesday is Global Game Day!  Students may bring in a game from home - no trading cards allowed and  no electronics.   
  • Friday our class will be presenting their Ancient Civilization Projects in the MPR. They have been working very hard on these and we hope you can attend one of the 2 sessions being offered.  Students will present 11:00 - 12:00 and 1:00 - 2:00. 
  • Thank you to those who were chaperones on our fieldtrip to the Getty Center.  We had a wonderful time, and we were able to see an exhibit on Ancient Roman and Greek Art that is there for a limited time!  
  • IDIOMS are the same as last week.
  • Happy Birthday Jake (2/1)

This Weeks News:  1/09/17-1/13/17 
  • New idioms, spelling, and Vocabulary for 2017
  • Students will be continuing to work on their Civilization projects. There are 2- One is non-fiction and research based in which they are doing in the classroom. The other entails a fictional society they will be creating for their books.
  • We need your help! We are in need of 3’x2’ closed (3’x4’ opened), tri-fold presentation boards. Any donations of boards this size would be greatly appreciated.
  • Happy Birthday to Asia and Diego (1/12)!

  • There will be no school on Monday, January 16th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
  • Tentative field trip to the Getty on Wednesday, January 25th. We are waiting on pending bus confirmation.

  • In class research has begun on Ancient Civilizations
  • Wacky Wednesday this week is Ugly Sweater Day!

  • Students are working hard for "Caught Being AWESOME" points! If they reach their goal by Friday, they will have a potluck on Friday, December 16, 2016, the last day of school before Winter Break.

Welcome Back from Thanksgiving Break!

Here is Room 17's 6th Grade News for the week of 11/28-12/02 2016:

Students will be given a topic of an Ancient Civilization to research this week. They will be researching a particular civilization, and working on a project in class.

Note, Reminders and Upcoming Events: 

  • Winter Program Performances will be held on Monday December 12th. Upper Grade performances for parents will be held beginning at 1:00pm in the MPR. 
  • Winter Break will be held Monday, December 19, 2016-Friday January 6, 2017. School will resume Monday January 9, 2017.

Room 17’s 6th Grade News


This Weeks News Week of:    10/24/16-10/28/16
  • Math Interim Assessments given on Wednesday
  • This week is Red Ribbon Week! It’s all about saying no to drugs and being Drug Free!  Every day is a spirit day:
-Monday- Wear your shirt backwards, as we turn our backs on drugs!
-Tuesday- Wear red to school, as we are “RED-y” to say no to drugs!
-Wednesday- Crazy Hair Day, as we’re crazy about being healthy and drug free
-Thursday- Crazy Sock Day, as we’re “socking” it to drugs
-Friday- Wear athletic wear or team shirts, as we are teaming up against drugs and unhealthy habits.
  • Monster Bash is this Friday from 5:30-8:00 p.m.
  • Schedule requests for Parent Conferences go out this week.

  • Make sure to submit the shirt size of your child so we may order the shirts ASAP. Thank you to those who have submitted money as well as the forms stating your child’s size.

  • Happy Birthday to Alyssa F. and Azul (both on 9/23)!
