Room 17’s 6th Grade News


This Weeks News Week of:    10/24/16-10/28/16
  • Math Interim Assessments given on Wednesday
  • This week is Red Ribbon Week! It’s all about saying no to drugs and being Drug Free!  Every day is a spirit day:
-Monday- Wear your shirt backwards, as we turn our backs on drugs!
-Tuesday- Wear red to school, as we are “RED-y” to say no to drugs!
-Wednesday- Crazy Hair Day, as we’re crazy about being healthy and drug free
-Thursday- Crazy Sock Day, as we’re “socking” it to drugs
-Friday- Wear athletic wear or team shirts, as we are teaming up against drugs and unhealthy habits.
  • Monster Bash is this Friday from 5:30-8:00 p.m.
  • Schedule requests for Parent Conferences go out this week.

Notes, Reminders, and Upcoming Events:
·        November 7th-11th is Parent Conference week.
·        November 21st- November 25th is Thanksgiving Break- No School
·        Costume Parade on October 31st
Homework
  • Check Student Homework Calendars daily! Homework is assigned on a daily basis and should be turned in the next day unless otherwise given a different due date.
  • Daily Reading, Math, and Language Arts assignments will be given
  • Spelling Words: factor, pantry, ragged, ponder, banner, ballot, kingdom, funnel, victim, prosper, barren, dwelling, mental, pumpkin, necklace, snapshot, formal, muffler, wallet, fabric
  • Vocabulary words: anthropologists, presumably, portable, nuisance, immense
  • Idioms: “Drink like a fish,” Drive someone up the wall,” “Dry run,” “Dropping like flies”
