Room 17's 6th Grade News


Week of 2/27-3/3/17

This week is Read Across America! Every day students can show spirit in different ways to honor the great author Dr. Seuss' birthday, and of course by reading! 

Monday: CAT IN THE HAT day-wear crazy hats! 
Tuesday: FOX IN SOCKS day-wear crazy socks/shoes! 
Wednesday: WACKY WEDNESDAY-wear wacky clothing (backwards, unmatched, etc.)
Thursday: OH THE PLACES YOU WILL GO-wear college apparel
Friday: ONE FISH TWO FISH RED FISH BLUE FISH- wear red and/or blue

Report cards for the second reporting period will be sent out on Friday. If you have questions, comments or would like to schedule a teacher conference, please email Ms. Krumal at jek7653@lausd.net or call 323-225-8320

Students are working on their fictional civilization book assignment in class and are encouraged to work at home as well. Please remind your child to use a pen drive to save work for transport from home to school.

  • March 17th: St. Patrick's Day-don't forget to wear green!

Homework

  • Check student Homework Calendars daily! Homework is assigned on a daily basis and should be turned in the next day unless otherwise given a different due date. 
  • Daily Reading, Math and Language Arts assignments will be given
  • Spelling words: compete, finality, crime, original, competition, nation, criminal, ignite, metal, national, reside, ignition, metallic, moment, resident, refer, final, momentous, origin, reference
  • Vocabulary words: demonstration, spectators, prominent, prevail, luxury, maneuvered, adept, collective
  • Idioms: "Go for Broke", "Go out on a limb", "Go the extra mile", "Good samaritan"
